Maatti Design initiates print production with a brand new five-colour Heidelberg SM 74
The company which began as a designing house with 500 sq/ft area in 2005, has over the years expanded to an office built on 4000 sq/ft of area, and employs over 50 people. The company is run by a family of designers, headed by Ramesh Sehdev, who is actively supported by his sons Kunal and Vaibhav Sehdev.
Recollecting his humble beginnings, Sehdev said, “I had worked as President for a prominent beer manufacturing company for several years. I always wanted to function in the printing industry, and working with the company, I had earned some good connections in the alcohol and beverages industry.”
“We thought to name the company, Maatti and collaborated with some printing facilities. Initially we undertook desgning jobs, and in 2011, we decided to invest in a printing press. After a thorough research for possible presses, we finalised on the Heidelberg SM 74 due to its good after-sales support,” he added.
The company has won five international designers awards from Germany and USA. Apart from the offset press, Maatti’s pressroom currently has a Polar cutting machine and coating machine from Faridabad-based Abhishek Print Line. The plates, however, are outsourced.
The company which reportedly has a turnover of two-crore has done numerous jobs for international alcoholic beverages brands clients such as NV Distillery and Blue Moon and has designed for companies in UK, USA and HongKong. The company is considering installing a folder gluer and stitching machine as it plans to be a complete packaging house.
